Day 2 in Sri Lanka,24 September 2013

Day 2 in Sri Lanka was supposed to be our R&R day. We went to temples and also saw many beautiful places. Some of the things we saw surprised us as we were not expecting to see such beautiful places.

This is the place where we were so amazed by the beauty of Sri Lanka. It was 40 km road is was surrounded by water. We were really amazed, everyone had their cameras out and were snapping away.

After sightseeing, Bante suggested to us that we go to school which was nearby. While going there, we saw many trees with the top part missing. We thought they were probably dead but when Bante explained to us that the top part of the trees were missing because they were blown off. The tamil tigers hid on the top of the trees to kill the soldiers from the Sri Lankan army, to counter that, the Sri Lankan army used to destroy the top part of the trees.

After visiting the school, we did some reflections. The students here did not have  proper classrooms. There was a small hall, and the wooden board was the partition between the classes. 4 classes would go on together. How did these students actually study? We are very lucky, yet we complain about the smallest things. We learnt to appreciate the things we had back home.
