Day 12, 4 October 2013

We only had one day to set up this computer lab. A lot had to be done, everyone had to get together and get this job done. Before I show the pictures of the day, everyone has to see this.

This is the view we woke up to. What a way to start our morning, such a beautiful scenery.

There were elephants at the water! These were orphaned elephants who were taken care of by an organisation there.
We were so lucky to actually spot a wild elephant!
Okay everyone time to get to work, since the bus could not travel into the village due to the turns and small road we had to take a van or tuk tuk.
Tuk tuk

The small road leading to the village.

What we saw on the way to the village.

Once we got there, we immediately got to work. Some of us began to clear the room so we could set it up properly.Everything was removed. The computer "operating theatre" was set up. The computer team got to work immediately.
Some of us went out to buy computer tables, chairs, lights and fans for the computer lab. Vidya pulling her hair out due to the stress!
Bhante requested our computer team to help this school with their computers as most of them were not working. Our computer team went to help.

When we came back to the school, we walked around the village.

There was a huge rubber plantation near the school.

Something which we don't get to see!

Padi field. This was the first time most of us actually saw a padi field.
Old age catching up. Hurry up Azhar!
When we reached the school, the chairs had arrived. But there was a huge problem, the computer tables were not here yet. There wasn't much we could do but to wait.

It was getting late in the evening, yet there were no signs on the tables. We were all stressed but there was nothing we could do. The locals had started arriving in the school, they wanted to meet us. So we went.

Look at the number of people!
Us greeting the locals.

We introduced ourselves to the locals, sang songs for them. We sang for them in different languages such as malay, mandarin, tamil and Hindi. We even got them involved! We made them sing the chorus. We were having fun but at the back of our minds, we were also worried about the computer tables. They were not delivered yet and it was getting really late.
This is how the computer lab looked like. Even Bhante looks worried.

Suddenly we heard a vehicle we all rushed out.

The tables had arrived!

Everyone got to work immediately.

Busy people!

Computer lab set up in less than 45 mins. Well done guys!

Now for the fan. It took 5 people to fix a fan.

Group photo with some of the locals.

The team is really proud of what we have achieved for the past days especially today. Our mission is completed. From tomorrow, its time for relaxation! And not forgetting, learning!
